About Us

Welcome to this section of our blog where we hope to tell you more on how Rainbow Designs
And Photography formed itself as a community social enterprise which as you will find out here
was created from the ground up by its present owner Andrew Hunter who in being self taught
from about aged 8 on wards is now highly skilled in both photographic art and design.

Andrew has had past voluntary work experience but this was mainly helping out on a city farm and assisting older/learning disabled people to take them shopping or for weekly activities but it wasn't until he got back together with that of his late wife (who passed away in February 2013 after she lost her fight against breast cancer) that they looked at the option of starting up some kind of businessHis wife's name was Jayne whom he met when they were 17 she had a mild learning disability
and was already in contact or had known about some of the groups Andrew would be working

with such as Enfield Mencap Enfield Disability Action and so on,in the area that this social enterprise was to be based,(some kind of office would be needed so the option of managed workspace was looked at). There was about 600 voluntary organizations who would no doubt benefit from someone like that of Andrew who was capable of designing and producing user friendly material. If i was to look back would there have been any pitfalls we could have avoided, well yes and no when the time came for Rainbow Designs And Photography to finally acquire a small office having successfully secured funding it seemed the expectation of could we offer printing as well as providing photographic and design services the answer for that was no !!!!!

The fact that Andrew was already volunteering in the community by offering his skills to who ever might need a newsletter being designed when Rainbow Designs And Photography eventually became fully operational. Some previous research had been carried out and it was shown that within the target area there were a number of printers and designer services that showed very few of these businesses were being used by the same groups that Rainbow Designs And Photography would be working with I suppose if this was to be the case and based on the fact due to Andrew being successful in
completing this commission to design this health & safety brochure, then i guess

Today we would never have probably still existed also to bear in mind the support and commitment
Andrew got from his late wife Jayne who fell ill mid way through the setting up of Rainbow Designs

And Photography which from the outset would have seen the two of them working together
In the end he was left with a business that needed to see through its plan of assisting/helping
groups who were obviously in need of using someone like Andrew who was and still is now able
to produce material like business cards letterheads brochures and leaflets.

Finally in the way that society has developed and progressed over the last couple of years would a
previous social enterprise such as that of my business Rainbow Designs And Photography still be
financially viable and would its core aims and social principles still work taking into account
its owner has that knowledge and experience in working with voluntary and disadvantaged groups
